FabNewborns are here today

On Giving Tuesday we give thanks to our learners,
our families, our team, our partners, and you.

Dear Friends,

“I always wanted to be an art teacher,” said B, a high school senior and FabNewport Navigator and intern who reflected on her journey last week.“But teachers in middle school didn’t connect with me. I didn’t feel like they wanted to work with me.”

We hear versions of that from young people often.Middle school should be a time when kids feel seen, encouraged, and supported. Instead, too many feel isolated — just when they’re trying to figure out who they are.

B. told us “FabNewport helped me feel connected because everyone here puts in a good effort to connect with students. It feels like the team actually cares.”

And once she felt connected, her spark came back. B decided she wanted to reconnect with her creative side. She discovered jewelry-making through FabNewport. She spent the summer working as a Navigator, mentoring younger campers — biking, surfing, making art, learning about herself. “I gained confidence. I learned not to fear trying something new and not to fear failing.”

And this fall, she told us her positive future vision:

“I want to be a creative art teacher — not in a school, but doing something out of the box, like FabNewport.”

This is what your support makes possible.

Young people reconnect with their passions. They build confidence, belonging, and purpose.
They begin imagining futures that feel real — futures they can step toward.

Every hour with a mentor, every bike ride, every reflection question, every meal shared, every act of trust — it all adds up. It truly matters.

This Giving Tuesday, I’m inviting you to help more young people like B. say:
“I learned a lot about myself… and I know who I’m becoming.”

Thank you for walking with us.

With gratitude,
Steve/Ellen/Chris/Sam

We are grateful for the arrival of our first Fab babies. Chris and Jane had a baby girl, Ellie, in August. Steve and Mary celebrated the birth of their first grandchild, Harlow, in June.
