This Is What Belonging Feels Like
Dear Friends,
“I was really moved by the whole event,” said a supporter. “It was so incredible to see what the community you and your colleagues and the kids have built. Every kid I spoke to was so open and excited to share what they’ve been doing this summer. The speeches were emotional and incredibly touching. The Heart Team had me in tears. FabNewport is a special place—it’s creating connections and opportunities for these kids that they never would have had otherwise.”
A parent wrote: “Thank you so much for such a special Fab Newport experience AGAIN! I’m in awe of your staff for the magic of your pioneering dreams that have been coming true for years! What a healing place you created for so many children, including my 3 musketeers. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you do!”
And one guest emailed after showcase to say: “Congratulations on your event celebrating the end of summer camp. It was a joyous gathering that highlighted the wonderful job you and your team impart to the kids. Everything about the organization is impressive and the results are obvious judging by the faces and spirit of the kids.”
We agree. The kids crushed showcase.

Innovate Newport was buzzing—Vinny spinning his basketball on a pencil, Lilly and Kevin belting out songs, Ayla and Shayla playing music, and most importantly, kids telling their stories. These weren’t rehearsed speeches; they were raw, heartfelt reflections that revealed just how deeply FabNewport is shaping lives.
Jamie, trembling and teary, bravely took the mic for the first time to share how difficult her last year had been—and how camp helped her find strength and see opportunity again.
Xavier, now a three-time speaker, declared that he wants to be a community leader, and knows that taking the stage is part of preparing for that future.
Another camper reflected: “When I first heard about camp, I didn’t want to do it. I thought it would be boring. But after one summer, I loved it. Now it feels like a family—a whole troop of people supporting me.”
What you see in those moments is bigger than camp.
It’s Latino, Black, White. It’s kids whose parents are teachers, fishermen, landscapers. It’s first-gen college hopefuls alongside kids who weren’t sure they even belonged at camp in the first place. Together, they’re surfing, farming, hiking, meeting entrepreneurs—and discovering confidence that lasts a lifetime.
FabNewport is leading by example. We’re creating diverse learning teams that move across Newport County’s beaches, farms, parks, and cultural sites, giving kids access to both the community’s abundance and to each other.
That’s the work. Building an ecosystem of learning in Newport that is inclusive, integrated, and life-changing. Kids from every background deserve the chance to thrive—and together, we can ensure they do.
FabNewport is thrilled to present Bellevue and Beyond, the relaunching of the Secret Garden Tour in the South End of Newport. This is a rare opportunity to savor the beauty of some Newport’s most enchanting gardens. Tickets are available here.
