Pull It Apart!, with Josie (Director of Instruction, gives the students a machine, like an old printer or radio, to pull apart and some tools to help them. They will identify the various components within the machines, discover what could potentially be reused and repurposed. They will then experiment with getting the parts working again, potentially with the aid of a microcontroller.
In the culminating activity, students will invent and create something to demonstrate how their parts can be reused. In the past, for example, students have used motors from printers to invent a toy car or a miniature washing machine.
