Thank You for your Support

We are grateful for your support and continued interest FabNewport’s work. We are transforming lives across Rhode Island. “They are good skills to learn, vinyl printing, being able to code a robot and sew and use a 3D printer,” said a Newport middle school student yesterday. “If you were able to have these skills in your tool box you will be able to be more successful in life.”

We are shining the light on what young people can do and become when the conditions are right. If you haven’t seen the Kevin video, it tells the story of what we can accomplish when we consider the whole child and the whole community. Skills coupled with confidence equal a young person who is eager to engage with life and positively impact their community.

As 2020 gets rolling FabNewport is grateful for the generous support of a forward thinking donor who funded our work with a seasoned consultant to develop a strategic plan that will chart our course for the next three years. We are also grateful for the strategic advisory team of Carol Bazarsky, Martin Keen, Hank Kniskern, Cheryl Space, Wendy Mackie, Nick Napp and Fred Burditt for their service to our mission of inspiring the maker in all of us.

The 2020 opportunity is to make the transition from startup to grownup. Our work is on point and in demand. We are transforming lives across Rhode Island, the challenge is to raise the funds to develop efficient operations across programming, development and infrastructure. It is time to work smarter. This transition will require me to dedicate 75% of my time to fundraising. FabNewport will hire an operations officer capable of keeping the many pieces of our programming in Newport and Providence running smoothly. With our many school, library and community partners there are logistical challenges requiring professional expertise.

Best to you and your family in2020. Please stay in touch. Visit. Let your friends know about us.

Sincerely yours,

Steve Heath, Executive Director
